India have been on the winning streak for quite some time now in the T20Is and the most recent achievement for them is their streak of victories in the recently concluded Asia Cup 2016. Yes, it’s the Mr. Pressure Sustainer for them who has been leading them to victories for quite some time now.
MS Dhoni has proven to be the most successful captain for India in all formats of the game. Under his captaincy, India are going to perform astonishingly great even in this warm up game as well. Rohit Sharma has been wonderful with the bat for them at the top and it will be a great opportunity for him to deliver in this game to bring the momentum on his side as India start their ICC World T20I campaign.
Virat Kohli has been in great nick as he was the highest run getter for them in the Asia Cup having scored 151 runs in 4 innings. The best thing was that he scored mostly under pressure and took his side home.
On the bowling front, Ashish Nehra was the most impressive of the lot for India in Asia Cup as he was able to get big swing with the new ball. Besides, Jasparit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya have been amongst wickets as well. So, overall India have a well balanced side and they’re the favorites going into this game.
West Indies gave good account of their skills and capabilities in their recent T20I series against Sri Lanka but that’s almost 4 months back. Their most recent T20I outing was against Zimbabwe where the two sides played warm up matches in the UAE. West Indies won both those matches quite comprehensively. Also, their players have good experience of playing in the T20I leagues with the like of Chris Gayle, Darren Sammy, Andre Russel, Samuel Badree and Dwayne Bravo.
Andre Fletcher can be a dangerous prospect at the top of the innings and if he can get going with the bashing Chris Gayle then the opponent bowlers are really going to have a worst outing.
Though West Indies do not have too much of pace and penetration up their ranks but their bowlers are pretty much effective in this format. Samuel Badree has got 31 international wickets in T20s and can be really effective with the new ball as well. So, Indians will have to watch out for him as well as Andre Russell who’s penetrative with the ball.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been amongst the most successful Indian captains and his understanding of the game is simply exceptional. This year, he has lead his side in 11 T20Is with a 100% success rate. What else you can ask for from your captain. His batting performance has also been wonderful.
Sammy has been quite effective both with the bat and ball. He has been leading his well too. From last 3 T20s in which Sammy has lead West Indies, they have been on the winning side twice. He has said that his side’s best thing is that most of the players have experience of playing in T20 leagues all over the world.
India vs West Indies Practice Match Predictions
Even though both sides are quite competitive, India have been declared favorites for this game considering their recent performances in the T20Is. Nevertheless, it’s going to be a competitive game.
The wicket at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata has been known to offer lots of runs to the batsmen but it will offer some support to the bowlers with the new ball as well. It will be partly cloudy today and maximum temperature would be 34° C.
